The Dick Deck (Before)

The Dilemma? When a client mentions that they want a “cozy” retreat, I say, “no problem”. When they say that they want a *5000 square foot “cozy” retreat*, I say, “pardon?” How do you make 5000 square feet feel “cozy”?

The Dick Deck (After)

The Proposed Solution? I decided that the best plan of action was to design the deck around a pool as a focal point, and then add clearly defined “rooms” surrounding the pool…

The McCulloch Deck (Before)

The Dilemma? Gorgeous yard, but some strange existing landscaping dividing the yard in two, with the house itself lending nothing to the feel of the space other than being an ominous wall of brick! The bugs were a bit nasty as well.

The Smith Deck (Before)

The Dilemma? Longing for a deck and a hot tub but without blocking light from any of the windows or wasting any of the existing interlock laid the year before. Also, a request to keep the view of the yard open while providing privacy. Hmmmmm…..tough one!

The Smith Deck (After)

Shankar Deck (Before)

The Dilemma? A gorgeous property with a newly renovated house, but a deck that looked like it had just gone a few rounds with Mike Tyson in his prime. Just tear it down and build a new one you say? Nope! The jurisdictional rules had changed and a new project would not have been allowed.

Shankar Deck (After)

The Proposed Solution? A full makeover! Remove the old deck boards and re-surface with new ultra-low maintenance composite decking, while leaving the existing structure intact. I only beefed up the structure to bring it way above present code requirements. Next step, beautification!
